Quick stop in the Philippines

About a  4 hour flight from Kansai International Airport,Osaka,Japan is Manila ,Philippines. My wife found round trip tickets for about $ 300 each so we couldn’t pass up the chance to visit my home country even for  a few days.

If you’re in this part of the globe you  might as well try to visit as many countries as you have time for and can afford. Very competitive rates are offered from multiple carriers that specialize in this region only and the choices for points of entries are many.

We arrived from KIX in Osaka to Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Manila on a hot and humid April afternoon.  It seemed the whole family picked us up from the airport which surprised my wife but was pretty normal for me. The airport is an hour and a half with typical traffic  to Imus ,Cavite where we would be staying. It’s north of Manila and about 45 minutes away from the more famous spots in Tagaytay,Cavite  which is further north.

It’s been 5 years since my last visit and I was excited to see my family and introduce them to my wife. We were going to stay far from Manila to avoid traffic and be close to my mother’s house. It also made it easier for me to sample some of her home cooking that I miss so much.

I guess more and more tourists visit the Philippines for the white sand beaches especially in Palawan , Cebu or Boracay but I told my wife that I prefer to spend most of the brief stay there, 5 days to be exact , hanging out with my family. Maybe we can hit the beaches on our next trip.

I wish I had more exciting pictures to post here .Maybe of the Coron Islands in Palawan or those tiny Tarsier monkeys  in Bohol. Probably on our next trip . A lot of our  time there was spent catching up with family , telling stories around the dinner table and  showing embarrassing pictures of my youth.
